In my book, Christophe Lemaire is the reigning king of timeless yet trendy, grown up, relaxed style. His designs make you feel at ease and in awe all at the same time. I was ridiculously excited when I learned that he was teaming up with Uniqlo a few years ago as it meant I could finally indulge in a few pieces from his atelier without breaking my piggy bank.
The first collection did not disappoint and the following collaborations were all just as successful. It’s no wonder that last season, Uniqlo appointed him artistic head of… well, I’ll let you read the official blurb below:
The Future of LifeWear
A collection of progressive essentials created in our Paris atelier by artistic director, Christophe Lemaire, and a team of international designers.
Employing advanced materials, experimenting with cutting-edge techniques and exploring new and unique shapes, Uniqlo U is our commitment to reinventing basics for your wardrobe.
Uniqlo U is the future of LifeWear.
They speak no word of a lie.
Most of the collection is now on sale online so I went a bit nuts and bought
a few quite a lot of items. They are all incredibly gorgeous, incredibly well made and impeccably cut. They’ve also used really good quality natural fibres – no itchy polyester blends in sight! The sort of wardrobe basics that’ll always make you look effortlessly stylish.
My review in a nutshell is – “Get it while you can”.
Current sale prices range from £9.90 for tops and knitwear to £29.90 for coats and jackets (insert Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” Emoji). You can see all available items by visiting the Uniqlo website via this link or by clicking on the individual images below.
